Anna University Registrar S. Ganesan had earlier said that online registration for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2016-17) application forms will begin on April 15th. As announced Anna University has now begun online registration for admission to engineering courses for the academic year 2016-17. Anna University's online application link is now active on their official site at:

Anna University conducts TNEA every year that acts as a procedure or guidelines on the basis of which admission to various graduate level engineering courses at different engineering colleges is done. Anna University Chennai invites applications for the unified single window admission for first year B.E./B.Tech Degree Courses to the University Dept./University Colleges, Govt. and Govt. Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by the Self-Financing Engineering Colleges through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, TNEA 2016.


TNEA 2016 Important Details:

Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2016:
A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as given below:
General Category: 50%; BC (including Backward Class Muslim): 45%; MBC & DNC: 40%; SC/SCA/ST: 40%
Vocational Subject: A pass in any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) as given below with any one of the Engineering related subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum average percentage put together as given above.

Registration Procedure:
Candidates can obtain the Application Form in person from the 60 centres detailed in Anna University website by paying Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu, on production of a photocopy of the Permanent Community Card or electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate) towards application fee, by cash/demand draft.

Application Forms can also be obtained by post from "The Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA), Anna University, Chennai-600025" by sending a requisition letter along with a Demand Draft for Rs.700/- (Rs.450/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu with a photocopy of the Permanent Community Card or electronic form /digitally signed e-Certificate) and an address label.

The candidates can also register through internet by logging on to official TNEA site as mentioned at the beginning of this article.

Selection Procedure:
Admission to General Category: The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics - 100, Physics + Chemistry - 100) in the qualifying exam.
Admission of Vocational Stream Candidates: 100 seats in Category I and 4% of seats surrendered in Category II have been set apart for the HSC (vocational stream) candidates. The academic marks in the prescribed subjects will be reduced to 200 (Related subject 100 marks, vocational subject including theory and practical 100 marks)

Application Form Starting: 15th April 2016
Last Date for Registration/Filling of Application Form: 07 days from the date of Publication of HSC result
Last Date for Receipt of Filled in Online Application Form: 10 days from the date of Publication of Higher Secondary result
Rank Publication: Third week of June 2016
Counseling: Last week of June 2016 to Last week of July 2016
