Anna University Counselling 2012 for the Engineering Admissions has been announced by the Vice Chancellor Of Anna University Mr.Mannar Jawahar he added that this year the counselling will take place only in Chennai campus by ending up the scandals that Counselling may take place in 4 centers across the state .
Anna university counselling is being conducted every year by the Anna University for the Engineering Admissions in Tamilnadu for the Government quota allotted in the colleges of Tamilnadu affiliated . This time they have allotted about 1.50 lakh seats under the government quota in over 500 engineering colleges across the State .Last year, 1.04 lakh students were admitted to engineering courses in 502 colleges in 35 days .
The counselling application forms for the TNEA 2012 will be issued from the May 1st week across the state in various centers . The center details for the counselling will be updated soon . Though the application forms are issued at the 1st week of the May . The public examination results will be announced later.
Anna University was a premier technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. Anna University was formed on September 4, 1978, as a unitary university that integrated four technical institutions in the city of Chennai (previously known as Madras), including the College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, Madras Institute of Technology and the School of Architecture and Planning. It was named after C. N. Annadurai.
Originally the university was named Perarignar Anna University of Technology (PAUT). In 1982 the current name of Anna University was adopted, removing the words “Perarignar” and “Technology”. In December 2001, it was converted into an affiliating university, with many engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu under its fold and also absorbing all the six government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu as its constituent colleges. In all, it brought together about 250 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Between 2007 and 2010 it was split into six universities, namely, Anna University, Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli and Anna University of Technology, Madurai.On September 14, 2011 a bill was passed to merge back the universities.
What is Anna University Counselling ?
It is a simple way to get a seat in the desired college. All the Government, Government aided and self financing engineering colleges will participate in this program and students seeking admission in these colleges will be admitted through this counselling only.
Candidates seeking admission has to apply in the prescribed application form, to be issued by the Anna University, within the stipulated time frame.Based on the cut off marks, students will be called for counseling and the students with high marks will have more chances to select the required college. In the first week, students will have more chances for selection. Students seeking admission in Government and Government aided engineering colleges will be required to pay lesser fees.
Counseling will be held only at Chennai Anna University’s Counseling centre.
Students who come from outside the Chennai and new to Chennai, can reach Anna University either by City Bus or other means of transport. From Egmore railway station, 23C is the direct bus and from Central Railway station, they have to come to Saidapet Railway station and from there 5B is the direct bus. I have given here some simple routes only.
Anna University Counselling Guidelines 2012
All the students who qualified will defiantly receive individual communications to appear for Anna University Counselling 2012. All the candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. The candidates are allowed to choose the desired branch based on the seats availability and reservation. Candidates have a option to opt for colleges and branches they want. But remember this is purely based on the available of seats at the time. Then the allotment to the branch/college chosen by the candidate will be made. At the time of counseling verification of marks of the candidate will be done. So, the candidates are required to appear counseling with their original certificates. The candidate is required to attend the the counselling with the new marks and rand. This is applied only to the candidates who got re-totaling /revaluation of mark
If the candidate do not have original certificates, he/she should bring a letter from the concerned Head of the institution stating that his original certificates are deposited in their institutions. In that case only, attested xerox copies of certificates will be accepted for verification. If the candidate could not attend the Anna University counselling 2012 on the specified date, he/she can attend any subsequent time/date, during the counselling period. But, remember he can only opt for the seats available at that time. He may get the branch/institution he desired.
