About GCT:
The Government College of Technology, Coimbatore was
established in the month of July 1945. This institution is one of the premier
institutions of our nation contributing to advancements on academic and
technological fronts. The college is sufficiently funded by World Bank to a
threshold of 12.5 crores along with 5 crores sanctioned separately for two centers of excellence. This college is a proud recipient of “Best College
Award” in the year 2010 from Tamil Nadu State Government and “Green Campus of
the year” in the year 2013 from the former CM of Pondicherry Dr. Rangasamy on 4th
of April 2013 for the college’s Eco-friendly initiatives.
The college conducts frequent technical events such as
symposiums to Horne the talent of the budding engineers and in the process has
managed to feature itself in ‘India Book of Records’ for the National symposium
conducted on the occasion of Zero paper event. The institution has also formed
Student Research Foundation to encourage development of new products and
conduct extensive research. SRF scheme funds innovative students and guides
them to transform their ideas into full fledged products and solutions.
GCT is an active participant of QEEE program i.e. Quality
Enhancement in Engineering Education program of Ministry of Human Resource
Development. As a part of this program the students get exclusive access to
live classes and virtual labs/tutorials offered by various experts and IIT
Professors. This college also has tied up with PSU, R&D labs and different
industries to help it to revise and revamp its curriculum to fit industry
expectations. GCT also has a strong
Alumni association that sponsors economically struggling students’ education.

such as Dr. Ramani of 1962 Electrical batch who has been inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for designing and advancing the internet into a global
