Here are few important points to be remembered by those students who are ready to participate in the engineering counseling.
Reach the counseling venue, at least 2 hours before your scheduled time. By doing so you maintain your cool. Engineering colleges’ vacancy status will be displayed in the special centres setup in the campus. Apart from that every one hour the vacancy status would be updated in the anna university website ( www.annauniv.edu ). At the end of the day the entire status report would be compiled and updated in the website.
The website furnishes details regarding the previous year status report. Previous years scenario stating the courses offered for the particular cut -off will help students to spot the trend.
Counseling centers would have fee counters. SC/ST students will have to pay Rs. 1000 as counseling fees, whereas other category students will have to pay Rs.5000 as counseling fee. Students can also bring demand drafts for the required amount. In such cases, the candidate should submit the demand drafts in the fee counter and shall get the counseling form.
Students having to attend the counseling in particular time will be called over megaphones. Either parent or a relative will be allowed to accompany the student. Initially, the student has to attend the orientation programme that would be conducted in the counseling campus. In this place, the students will be informed of certain do's and don’ts and some of the rules that they have to adhere in the counseling process. For instance students will be informed of how to handle their mark sheets and how to arrange the required documents in order.
Next step would be certificate verification. With the help of special equipments authenticity of the certificates will be checked.
After certificate verification, students will be lead to the counseling hall. Over 40 computers would be laying in order. The student and the person accompanying will have to settle before a computer allotted to them. A person on duty over there will facilitate the student to select the college and the course, but to ensure they would leave everything to the discretion of the candidate. Taking their help and based on the ranking the student shall check the seat availability and pick the course and college of his choice.
Once the selection is over, the students get an allotment letter from the respective room. The student should once again verify the allotment letter, whether the college and the course he selected has been rightly mentioned in the Allotment Letter. As the student cannot make any changes after getting the allotment letter.
Students who are not able to attend the counseling on time, for some unavoidable reasons can make it later. But, they will have to pay a price for that; accordingly they will not be eligible to select the courses based on their earlier ranking.
