Coimbatore Institute of Technology:
Coimbatore Institute of Technology was founded in the year
1956 by V. Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust (VRET). CIT is one of the most
reputed and prestigious educational institutions in South India since 1956. The
Institute owing to its World Class research and developmental activities had attained
autonomous status in 1987and been affiliated to the Anna University. This
Institution’s steady progress is backed by strong industrial-academic
interaction and top quality research and consultancy. CIT has a nation vide
reputation mainly because of the services of skilled faculty, and visionary
management to enhance the quality of education.
Campus & Infrastructure of CIT:
The campus covers an area of 25.4 hectares. CIT has 40,000 square
meters of built up area for academic & administration purposes as well as
for sports and games. It houses a separate library block coupled with state of
the art auditorium, guest house, canteen, hostel blocks, gymnasium, sports,
recreational facilities and a bank too.
History of CIT:
CIT was founded with the noble aim
of disseminating knowledge in the fields of science, engineering and technology
to the student community with special emphasis on industrial training. CIT was
affiliated to Madras University from the year 1956 to the year 1980. In the
year 1980, the Institute got affiliated to Bharathiar University and then to
Anna University in 2001. CIT is a Government-aided institution, recognized by
the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
