Anna University will be conducting Counselling to fill up
the B.E/B.Tech seats of colleges located across TamilNadu starting from the
next week. Now we think that it will be really apt if we could give you a few
general tips and overview regarding counselling process just to cool up your
nerves at the time of choosing your desired college here:
·
Every year Counselling process takes place at
Anna university campus situated at Guindy for students all over Tamil Nadu. So
if you are new to Chennai or located outside Chennai it is better to arrive a
day or two before to have a glimpse at the venue for counselling just to avoid
last minute tension in finding the exact location.
·
A deposit of Rs.5000 is required to be made
by every candidate who wishes to choose college by Counselling process. Hence
candidates are requested to carry a Demand Draft in favor of “The Secretary
(TNEA), Anna university Chennai” which must be payable at Chennai to the
counselling venue.
·
Please don’t panic if you are not able to
produce original certificates at the time of counselling as even your
institution’s headmaster attested Xerox copies of documents will be accepted
for attending counselling process.
·
Also due to any unforeseen circumstances if
you are not able to make up to the counselling, don’t worry as you may attend
the counselling on a later date for the seats available at that time.
· In order to know the vacancy positions left
with each college pay attention to the display boards kept at waiting halls
that will display vacancy for each institution community wise. Also be
attentive as the details will also be announced in loudspeakers at the time of
counselling.
·
Never forget to register your name once you
enter the counselling location. It is mandatory to take part in the counselling
activity.
·
You will be allotted a counselor to help you
in selecting college as well as input it to the system. You will also be
accompanied by either one of your parents to the counselling hall. Discuss with
everyone and make a careful choice as the choice once made is irreversible.
·
Do log in to online Anna university website on the day before counselling to know the vacancy situation in your desired
college and make a list of your preferred colleges. This will help you a great
deal in entering the desired 3 options and make any changes if required without
any tension.
·
Avoid discussing your choice of college
within Anna university premises. The information you get at the last minute may
not be trust worthy and also cannot be verified. So avoid asking about it even
to your school/ college friends who attend counselling with you. Also there are
some people who are specially hired to brainwash students to choose their
institution. Beware of such culprits!
·
Get to the counselling venue at least a hour
before to pay the DD at the collection center and get your row number as early
as possible. This will give you an overview of number of students who get the
chance to choose before or after you, which would be very useful in determining
your final choice.
All the best for your counselling process and do share your counselling experience and post your doubts regarding it in the comment boxes below as we are waiting to answer it as soon as possible...
